REFEREE/UMPIRE:

Job Overview:

Milwaukee Sports and Social is seeking individuals with a strong knowledge in the sport of their interest to referee our year-round sport leagues! Some leagues will be outdoors, while others will be in an indoor gymnasium setting.

As a referee, your role will be to provide a fair experience for Milwaukee Sports and Social's recreational athletes, control the environment, and become an authority of the league's rule book so that you may govern the game efficiently and accurately. In addition, it will be your job to keep score and to report the final score/winner digitally and immediately at the conclusion of each game.

Compensation: $15/hour

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Previous umpire/referee experience preferred, but not necessary.

Summary of Role Requirements:

- Participate in pre-season staff orientation/training program

- Be reliable and punctual (we cannot stress this enough)!

- Capable of working on your feet/standing for several hours at a time

- Must possess a deep knowledge of the sport they are officiating

- Must be comfortable with confrontation and capable of enforcing rules under pressure.

- Keep track of time to assure every game ends in 60 minutes or less

- Review ground rules with team captains before each game

- In charge of calling the game due to weather conditions

- Ability to run and follow the action up-and-down the basketball court.

- Be kind, considerate, and courteous to other staff members, recreational athletes, and the general public

- Be available from 5:30pm to 10:30pm

- Wear the provided referee shirt to every game, which will help staff and recreational athletes easily identify you

- Communicate with Milwaukee Sports and Social leadership regarding any issues that occurred during the game

- Follow outlined company policies and procedures

This is a Part Time, Contract Job Opportunity.

Pending needs, this position may work between 3-20 hours per week. Hours to be assigned, at least, 7 days in advance (typically 2-6 weeks in advance).
